Ahead of the Maharashtra elections, Ajit Pawar's NCP has decided to field 10% Muslim candidates. This comes amid the controversies created by the statements of BJP's Devendra Fadnavis and Nitesh Rane.

Sharad Pawar has moved a fresh plea in the Supreme Court urging that Ajit Pawar and his faction be restrained from using the NCP's 'clock' symbol in the interest of fairness and clarity.

“The NCP will give 10 per cent seats to the Muslim community in the Assembly election. If the party gets 100 seats, it will nominate Muslim community members on 10 seats,” said Ajit Pawar in Baramati. He has thereby indicated that the NCP has not distanced itself from its secular credentials despite joining the Mahayuti.

As Maharashtra gears up for assembly elections, Sharad Pawar’s faction of the NCP has approached the Supreme Court to block Ajit Pawar’s camp from using the ’Clock’ symbol. ;
