A division bench of Justices Revati Mohite Dere and Prithviraj Chavan at the Bombay High Court on Thursday directed the magistrate to submit by 18 November an inquiry report into the custodial death of Akshay Shinde, the accused in the Badlapur school sexual assault case, reported PTI.

The Bombay High Court had questioned the police’s claim that the accused, arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting two four-year-old girls at a Badlapur school, was killed in retaliatory firing.

Two girls — aged four and five — were sexually assaulted inside the washroom of a school in Badlapur town of Maharashtra's Thane district by a male attendant. The accused, Akshay Shinde, was subsequently arrested. He was killed by police in a shoot-out on September 23.
