BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) — California athletic director Jim Knowlton is retiring after seven years on the job. Knowlton announced on Monday that he will step down officially on July 1.

"Jim's work and accomplishments have set the stage for the next era of excellence across Cal Athletics." Knowlton previously served as athletic director at Air Force from 2015-18.
