The latest Massachusetts snow storm was nothing to write home about, but it did fall in time to make the Wednesday morning commute a bit slower in much of the state. Snow delays were declared for some Massachusetts schools as a result.

Many areas saw just a light dusting of snow Tuesday night into Wednesday, while part of Franklin County was hit with six inches.

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Some places in western Massachusetts saw around four inches of snow overnight. A Wind Advisory is in effect for all of western Massachusetts until 10PM for wind gusts that could reach 50mph.

Many Massachusetts residents woke up to blankets of white Monday morning after several inches of snow fell across the state overnight. The National Weather Service's Boston office issued snowfall totals showing upwards of five inches across much of Massachusetts, with some areas getting more or less accumulation.

A winter storm barreled into Massachusetts Sunday, bringing measurable snowfall across the Bay State. Some snowflakes were still falling as of around 6:45 a.m. Monday, but the precipitation had largely stopped by daybreak.

The National Weather Service is reporting the following snow totals in Central Massachusetts: Ashburnham: 7 inches (as of 6 a.m.) Grafton: 6.8 inches (as of 5 a.m.) Westborough: 6.2 inches (as of 4:42 a.m.) Lunenburg: 6.1 inches (as of 7:35 a.m.) Northborough: 6 inches (as of 7:30 a.m.)

These fast-hitting, intense blasts of snow and whipping winds can make for treacherous travel, especially on the highway.
