The Houston Texans took down the Detroit Lions to close out the 2025 preseason with rookie Graham Mertz leading the charge.

Since departing from Detroit, Quintez Cephus has yet to find a home. But an impressive end to the preseason could lead to Cephus finding a home in Houston.

The Texans have much less depth now, with a reliable but limited upside Christian Kirk as their No. 2 and a solid tight end in Dalton Schultz. They also have rookie Jayden Higgins as their No. 3 option in the passing game.

Texans should trade for Colts’ DeForest Buckner before Week 1 of 2025 season to strengthen defensive front and boost Super Bowl chances.

The Texans will have two weeks to get their lineup right before their first meeting of the year arrives with a road date against Nick Caley's former squad in the Los Angeles Rams. Time will tell if Mixon will be among those names in the lineup and ready to go.
