Texas State officials have received a "verbal offer" to leave the Sun Belt conference and join the Mountain West, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.

We’ve reached the dumbest stage of realignment, with potentially hundreds of millions of dollars being spent for no discernible change.

If the Mountain West gets the full amount, UNLV and Air Force are looking at roughly $36 million each in exchange for committing to the conference through 2031-32, which encompasses the final two years of the current media rights contract and a new six-year deal.

The Bobcats, currently of the Sun Belt conference, have received a verbal offer to join the Mountain West, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel. The Bobcats have also received interest from the newly constructed Pac-12, but have yet to receive any sort of formal offer.

Conference realignment continues to rage out west, much to the confusion of many people in the rest of the country.
