Dahud Hanid Ortiz, a former U.S. Marine convicted of a triple homicide in Spain, was among 10 Americans repatriated in exchange for 250 Venezuelans held in El Salvador.

The State Department did not say how he came to be released alongside a group of “wrongfully detained” prisoners.

Ten Americans and permanent U.S. residents detained in Venezuela were traded for more than 250 Venezuelans expelled from the U.S. and imprisoned in El Salvador.
