The Presidential Fitness Test is returning to US schools under Trump’s new executive order, sparking debate over its impact on youth health, performance standards, and mental wellbeing.

Generations of Americans who struggled to complete a pull-up in front of their classmates winced as President Trump announced that he was reinstating the annual assessment.

One of the hallmarks of the test was the Presidential Fitness Award for top-performing students, a tradition that will return based on criteria the sports, fitness and nutrition council establishes, according to the White House.
