NBC Today co-anchor Sheinelle Jones says that she is taking leave from the show as she deals with a family health matter. Jones announced the news on Instagram on Wednesday morning, with co-anchors Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin addressing it at the top of the 8 a.m. hour.

There have been a lot of changes at Today lately, especially with longtime anchor Hoda Kotb’s departure. While Craig Melvin took over Hoda’s seat as Today co-host, Sheinelle usually helms the show's third hour.

Savannah Guthrie is rallying behind Today costar Sheinelle Jones after the host had to step away from the talk show. Sheinelle, 46, revealed that she is dealing with a “family health matter” in a post on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
