The Justice Department announced Monday it plans to launch a review of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, an attack by a white mob on a thriving Black district that is considered one of the worst single acts of violence against Black people in U.

The racist 1921 attack killed more than 300 Black people and destroyed a thriving business district known as "Black Wall Street."

The federal review is being conducted by the Civil Rights Division’s Cold Case Unit, under the Emmett Till Unsolved Civil Rights Crime Act.
