The Heritage Bench Program in Bastrop's Main Street District offers people the chance to display their name or message on a plaque on a city bench.

The district said that mental health and wellness facilitators, stationed at every school across the district, will lead training about the purpose and use of benches.

For those reasons, a bench program came about to provide places to sit back and enjoy the wildlife, scenery or to sit and read a book. Benches were provided by members of the community.
