At least 12 people were killed and several others injured after a UPS plane crashed shortly after taking off from the Louisville International Airport on Tuesday.
Video of the deadly Louisville, Kentucky, crash showed flames on one of the plane's wings and a huge fireball erupting as the aircraft hit the ground.
Gov. Andy Beshear says that a significant search and rescue was underway overnight and continues Wednesday morning after seven people were found dead in the UPS plane crash.
The large plume of smoke from the crash could be seen from miles away. People from Louisville and beyond have shared videos they captured of the tragedy and photos of the aftermath. Witnesses describe it as a scene they will never be able to erase from their minds.
The UPS plane was headed from Louisville to Honolulu, Hawaii, and is reported to have been carrying approximately 38,000 gallons of fuel at the time of the crash. Sarav Arunachalam, deputy director of the UNC Institute for the Environment, told WRAL News that amount of fuel can pose big risks to nearby residents and responders.
