Firefighters rescued a puppy early Monday from a fire in the south Chicago suburb of Dolton. At 1:30 a.m., crews were called for a fire in a house at 14745 Woodlawn Ave. in Dolton. The fire started on the second floor of the house and extended to the first.

Firefighters in McHenry, Illinois, battled a large fire that broke out at a popular suburban bakery Sunday afternoon. McHenry firefighters were called to the Riverside Bakery shop around 2 p.m. and found smoke billowing out of the roof.
