Pilots of Delta Air Lines flight bound for Atlanta stopped their takeoff from Mexico City's airport when another jet landed in front of them on the same runway.

Delta Flight 590 was preparing for takeoff in Mexico City just after 7 a.m. on Monday, according to Delta. As the flight crew started takeoff, they noticed a plane landing in front of them. The pilots aborted takeoff and returned to the gate, Delta said. None of the 144 passengers or six crew members were injured.

The tower involved was not a Federal Aviation Administration tower, so the agency does not have a report on the event. The FAA is working to gather information on the incident, the agency said.
