The 40-year-old Fleury, who will be retiring at the end of the 2024-25 season, moved past Hockey Hall of Famer netminder Roberto Luongo on the all-time starts list. The former Florida Panthers and Vancouver Canucks goalie had a total of 1,014 career starts, while New Jersey Devils legend Martin Brodeur holds the record with 1,251.

Fleury had a strong outing against his former team where the Wild failed to provide him with much goal support. He posted a clean first period before the Penguins put two goals past Fleury in the final two periods.

More than two decades have come and gone since Fleury broke into the NHL with the Penguins. He was an 18-year-old prodigy who captivated Pittsburgh from the beginning and, all of these years later, he still has a hold on so many hockey fans in Western Pennsylvania. They’ll be watching Sunday, just like they always do when Fleury is involved.
