ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The News10NBC First Alert meteorologists typically focus on the lowest 50,000 to 60,000 feet of the atmosphere, where most of our day-to-day weather occurs. From time to time, however,
The Lyrid meteor shower is active between April 14 and April 30, with peak activity on April 22. Clear skies are expected Monday night into Tuesday morning (April 20th into the 21st) to catch some shooting stars. While it technically isn't the night the meteor shower peaks, clearer skies are expected than on the night of the 22nd.
Afternoon: Mostly sunny and gorgeous. Noticeably warmer. Southwest wind, 5-15 mph. High, 83. Evening: Clear and pleasant as temperatures settle back through the 60s and into the 50s. Perfect weather to see the peak of the Lyrid meteor shower, which takes place between midnight and dawn on Wednesday.
