SNAP latest: Trump Admin. says Wisconsin should return payments
Following a ruling from SCOTUS, the USDA is now asking states, including Wisconsin, to return the SNAP payments that were already distributed.
States may be out millions of dollars after being caught up in the middle of a court battle over SNAP benefits.
Approximately 42 million Americans, or roughly one in eight, rely on monthly SNAP benefits, which are delivered via electronic cards for groceries. Advocates warn that any interruptions or reductions in payments could place significant financial strain on the households that depend on the program.
Since President Donald Trump took office in January 2025, sweeping changes have been made to federal student debt relief programs.
