No Bible translation is named, but the Ten Commandments in the Louisiana law appear to be a variation on the King James Bible version and listed in the order commonly used by Protestants.
The third version included nine documents of equal size, one of them setting out the King James Version of the Ten Commandments (Ex 20:3-17). Many of the documents contained strong religious themes.
Taken from the King James Bible, the Ten Commandments’ text required by the legislature differs from the text in Jewish scriptures, and, of course, from precepts central to other religious faiths.
