BC will have more than just the Vancouver Canucks representing the province’s hockey scene at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Six key parts of both Canada’s men’s and women’s teams hail from all over BC, ranging from North Vancouver to Prince George. Here are the six BC-based Canadian hockey players who are vying for gold in Italy.

On Wednesday, Feb. 4, the Canucks will face the Vegas Golden Knights on the Las Vegas strip. That afternoon, NHL rosters will freeze, meaning no additional trades will be permitted until Feb. 22. Afterwards, Canucks players will scatter, and those who aren’t heading to the Olympics won’t report back until Feb. 17.

It’s not enough to be able to just identify and select high-end talent in any given draft year. Every franchise must also be able to effectively develop and instill confidence into their young players as they hope to carve out careers for themselves in the NHL.

Seeing Sherwood get traded was not surprising in the slightest. The pending UFA forward was the subject of trade rumors for months as the Canucks sit in the league basement.

Saturday night is going to be a fun one at Rogers Arena as the Vancouver Canucks host the Toronto Maple Leafs in an all-Canadian matchup on Hockey Night in Canada. Nikita Tolopilo and Kevin Lankinen combined for a shutout on Thursday night against the Anaheim Ducks.

The Vancouver Canucks are now into the Olympic break, but there’s no break in the action for five members of the active roster who will be representing their countries in Milano-Cortina, Italy, over the next two weeks.
