Philadelphia’s public transit system is moving forward with plans to test-run bullet-resistant enclosures for drivers on city buses

After bus drivers' most recent contract with SEPTA included bulletproof enclosures on buses, the new additions will be put to the test.

In an effort to protect its bus drivers, SEPTA plans to pilot bulletproof compartments for operators this spring, when eight buses will be equipped with floor-to-ceiling enclosures, at a cost of $15,000 each.
