Far-right US commentator Candace Owens has accused French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife of ordering her assassination. Owens claims a French government insider warned her that an elite Gendarmerie unit was given the “green light” to kill her.

Michigan State Police responded to the threat, which came after Trump criticized Democrats for telling military to disobey unlawful orders.

The Republican congresswoman warned that the attacks by Trump and others could lead to "a harmful or even deadly outcome." Hours later, local police said her son had been the target of a death threat.
