Yamazaki earned plenty of praise thanks to his previous movie. Godzilla Minus One opened with Kōichi Shikishima ( Ryunosuke Kamiki) suffering a traumatic experience due to an encounter with the titular monster.

Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki has officially partnered with Sony Pictures for his upcoming English-feature directorial debut film titled, Grandgear. Sony successfully won the project through a competitive bidding war against a number of studios.
