Hurricane Kirk rapidly strengthened into a Category 4 storm in the Atlantic Ocean Thursday, and is expected to continue to grow.

Kirk became a hurricane in the eastern Atlantic Ocean on Tuesday. The storm could strengthen into a major hurricane by Thursday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said.

While Hurricane Kirk is expected to stay over the Atlantic Ocean, impacts could be felt as far as the East Coast of the United States by Sunday.
