Thousands voted in the Indian capital’s state legislature election on Wednesday, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Hindu nationalist party trying to unseat a powerful regional group that has ruled New Delhi for over a decade.

Voting was underway on Wednesday in Delhi, the union territory that includes the capital of India, New Delhi, to decide the 70 members of its legislative assembly in a tight election whose results are scheduled to be declared on Saturday.

Two exit polls released on Wednesday gave BJP an edge over AAP in the Delhi assembly polls, one of the four analysed here gave the incumbent a third consecutive decisive mandate and another gave BJP an even clearer win.
