The Los Angeles Chargers won't be celebrating a Mike Williams reunion after all. The veteran wideout decided to retire after signing a one-year deal this offseason to return to the Bolts. The Chargers are still pretty thin at wide receiver.

Wide receiver Mike Williams is retiring, the Chargers confirmed Thursday as the team began camp. Just as a hole opened in the receivers room, the Chargers also signed rookie receiver Tre’ Harris, the team announced, ending the second-round pick’s contract holdout.

EL SEGUNDO — Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams told the team he planned to retire rather than continue his standout NFL career after eight seasons, a club spokesman confirmed while the opening day of training camp was underway Thursday morning. Williams spent seven of his eight years in the NFL with the Chargers.
