The Green Bay Packers had a need at wide receiver in the 2025 NFL Draft, and in typical Brian Gutekunst fashion, it was addressed in multiple different ways.

Packers quarterback Jordan Love and receiver Jayden Reed immediately reached out to Golden after the draft and offered a warm welcome. After flying in for rookie minicamp, Golden said he's enjoyed meeting his new teammates and reconnecting with Williams, with whom he'll now share a position room.

The Green Bay Packers added to their wide receiver room by selecting Texas’ Matthew Golden with the No. 23 pick of the 2025 NFL Draft. Golden is the first receiver to be selected in the first round by the franchise since 2002 (Javon Walker). The standout spent one season at Texas after two seasons at Houston.
