A 34-year-old Kansas deputy was shot and killed by a suspect who barricaded himself in a home, with the Kansas Bureau of Investigation now investigating.
Garland PD said at about 1:45 a.m., near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Colonel Drive, officers were involved in a shooting with a suspect. However, the suspect was not injured and was transported to a medical facility for a mental health evaluation, officials said.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — One person is dead and another wounded following a shooting early Friday at a University of New Mexico dormitory that prompted the evacuation of hundreds of students and a campuswide search for the suspect.
The victim is being treated at a hospital for lifethreatening injuries, police said. The suspect, identified as 50-year-old Joshua Kaplan, was arrested Saturday but has not yet shown up on the Santa Rita Jail inmate log, records show.

An officer at 9:45 p.m. on July 5 spotted a pickup truck weaving and repeatedly traveling out of its lane on I-480 near Mastick Road, according to a police report. The vehicle was traveling slowly at 40-50 mph in a 60 mph zone.
Cameron Keyshawn Jackson, 28, of Quinton, is charged with capital murder in the slaying of Devin Wayne Hughes. He was taken into custody within hours of the shooting.
