For the third straight day, thunderstorms have posed what meteorologists call life-threatening conditions in the Hill Country, where flooding earlier this month killed at least 131 people.

Sunday morning recovering efforts were suspended in Kerr County due to heavy rainfall and a new flash flood warning issued for the Hill Country.

New flood warnings have been issued along the Guadalupe River in Texas less than two weeks after flooding killed more than 100 people.

Flood alerts have also sparked backlash over the inconsistent use of the alert system by local and state agencies, such as the practice of over-alerting or issuing alerts for what some argue are non-significant, non-life-threatening events, which can result in so-called "alert fatigue."

A special session of the Texas Legislature will address the deadly floods in Hill Country, but the fireworks will come from President Trump’s demand for a newly gerrymandered House map.

Flood watches have been issued by the National Weather Service until at least 7 p.m. CT July 6 in Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor. The Weather Prediction Center added that scattered thunderstorms are likely to drop "torrential downpours over sensitive soils across parts of the Texas Hill Country."

Last week alone, the Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries received half a million dollars in physical donations.
