The New York Mets completed a heart-pounding comeback win to advance to the National League Division Series. During Game 3 of the Wild Card Round on Thursday, Mets slugger Pete Alonso blasted a go-ahead three-run home run in the ninth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers to lift his team to a 4-2 win.

Seven minutes after the Mets advanced, and as the team celebrated on the field, the sections of fans behind New York’s dugout at American Family Field began loudly chanting, “Pete A-lon-so! Pete A-lon-so! ” It would be the first of more chants for Pete Alonso.

Pete Alonso played the hero on Thursday night as the New York Mets won Game 3 of their Wild Card series against the Milwaukee Brewers. Alonso's three-run shot was literally historic and caused Mets fans to feel something they haven't felt in October in years—joy.
