How to Remove the Covers From a PS5 Slim Unlike the original model, the PS5 Slim’s covers lift in a different direction. However, the removal process is similar.

Remove the feet from the PS5. The PS5 Slim has four different cover plates, each with a symbol corresponding to the four action buttons on the DualSense controller (X, Square, Circle, and Triangle).

The original console shipped with a simple plastic wedge-shaped tray, but the newer vertical stand attaches directly to the PS5 or PS5 Pro itself. That means a far more stable base.

A teardown video of the PS5 Slim reveals that the console's disc drive is easily removable and it doesn't need a vertical stand.
