Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett has decided to allow Pacers Sports & Entertainment to build a $78 million practice facility for the Indiana Fever, despite some residents feeling that the city missed an opportunity for development on the site.
The measure includes a provision to allow Marion County residents to vote, through a referendum, for property-tax hikes that would be used to pay for road improvements.
This is the city’s first attempt to document and preserve the history of others buried at the city cemetery. The city contracted archeological company Stantec for the dig work. Lead consultant Ryan Peterson said they start with an excavator, slowly digging through the soil layers.
