It’s easy to believe that Electric Light Orchestra’s — now officially Jeff Lynne’s ELO — Over and Out Tour is a swan song. Lynne has always been a studio recluse and never a road warrior. And backed by 12 musicians on Monday at Xcel Energy Center, he declared “adios” with his opening number.

Lynne, 76, still sounds great vocally. Sure, he does not have the same punch as he did in the ’70s, but he still hits the high notes with ease. His recognizable voice still sounds the same over a half-century later.

The legendary British band led by its driving force, Jeff Lynne, performed two consecutive nights this past Monday and Tuesday at Madison Square Garden for its farewell tour billed as ‘Over and Out.’ Both shows provided an opportunity for older and younger fans to hear the classics live from Lynne and company for the last time.
