An active shooter at Emory University in Georgia is now dead, Atlanta police said in a statement. The university wrote on X on Aug. 8, "Emory Emergency: Active shooter on Emory Atlanta Campus at Emory Point CVS.

The Atlanta Police Department said an active shooter near Emory University is dead and one officer was killed in the incident.

A wounded officer was reportedly rushed to Emory University Hospital, according to Georgia station WSB-TV. Footage captured by CNN appears to show a uniformed cop being carried on a stretcher into a waiting ambulance. The FBI in Atlanta said it too was responding to reports of gunfire and coordinating with local officials.
