Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday afternoon signed a bill that will ban schools from selling Flamin’ Hot Cheetos and other snacks, candy and baked goods that contain synthetic food dye additives.

What you need to know: Governor Newsom signed eight bills into law today to help protect victims of domestic abuse and violence, including by creating a new victims’ services fund maintained by penalties from white-collar crimes and expanding the ability of victims to access restraining orders.

Democratic state Sen. Aisha Wahab, who introduced the bill, said it’s “about fairness and equity in the workplace.”

Newsom also signed a handful of bills developed using recommendations from the state’s reparations task force.

As part of his broader push for gun control, Newsom has enacted numerous measures, including addressing the issue of ghost guns, raising taxes on firearms and ammunition to fund education, and banning firearms in most public spaces.

The common food dyes — blue 1, blue 2, green 3, red 40, yellow 5 and yellow 6 — have been linked to developmental and behavioral harms in children, according to the California Environmental Protection Agency.
