MINNEAPOLIS (FOX 9) - Storms overnight and in the early morning Saturday brought heavy rain in some parts of Minnesota. Southeast Minnesota received the heaviest rainfall from the storms overnight. The Twin Cities metro got a decent amount of rain, with some places getting over an inch.

Storms brought torrential rain to parts of Minnesota on Friday night into Saturday morning, sparking concerns over flash flooding in urban areas. Severe storms swept east across Minnesota over the course of Friday evening and for a long time were considered severe before reaching the Twin Cities between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m.

Strong storms could develop late Friday night, bringing the risk of strong winds and possible hail as a heat advisory remains in effect.
