Ohtani made his long-awaited Dodgers pitching debut last night against the San Diego Padres, going one inning with one earned run allowed on two hits, zero strikeouts, and zero walks. He threw 28 pitches and 16 strikes.

The San Diego Padres entered the weekend with a 4-6 record in their last 10 games, but they still have one of the best records in the National League. With the MLB trade deadline just over a month out, San Diego is reportedly willing to be aggressive to upgrade one key spot in its lineup.

Gwynn came to the Padres in 1981 as the 58th overall draft pick after playing collegiately at San Diego State University. A dual-sport athlete, he was simultaneously drafted again to play professional basketball in the 10th round by the then-San Diego Clippers.
