The observations were made at the outset of the day’s proceedings when a lawyer mentioned a case related to lapse of mining lease for urgent listing.

Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud criticized the practice of lawyers seeking urgent hearings for the same case by changing advocates to secure favorable listings. He stated such tactics compromise his personal credibility and warned against exploiting procedural loopholes.

DY Chandrachud has condemned a recent practice where multiple lawyers present the same case to the bench in an attempt to secure a hearing date. He said that lawyers “cannot take the court for a ride” by adopting such tactics.
