John Metchie III made his preseason debut with the Eagles, getting his first reception in the first quarter against the Jets on Friday.

With the Houston Texans selecting two receivers (Jayden Higgins and Jaylin Noel) in this year's NFL Draft, Metchie became expendable, and General Manager Howie Roseman swooped in. The timing couldn't have been any better, as second-year wideout Johnny Wilson suffered season-ending ankle and knee injuries two days later.
