Days after Helene made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region as a Category 4 hurricane, more than 2 million customers remain without power. At least 66 deaths have been confirmed as a result of the storm, at least a third of whom were killed by falling trees.

Meanwhile, more than 2 million people remained without power Sunday evening across the Southeast in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Homes are destroyed, towns are cut-off and hundreds of people are still unaccounted for in the hard-hit state.

Buncombe County officials said more than 1,000 were reported missing, but they expected that number to drop dramatically when cell service is back.
