Leon Draisaitl had an assist before leaving in the second period of the Edmonton Oilers' 3-2 win against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday.

Edmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl is "out short term" but should return "well before" the playoffs begin after sustaining a lower-body injury against the San Jose Sharks the previous night, head coach Kris Knoblauch said Friday.

Leon Draisaitl exited midway through the second period after what appeared to be an awkward fall or collision. The forward skated gingerly to the bench before heading straight to the locker room and did not return. The team later confirmed he was ruled out for the remainder of the game with an undisclosed injury.
