Uranus has 28 known moons in its orbit, but thanks to the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists believe they just uncovered a 29th moon.

Roll out the cosmic welcome mat for our solar system’s newest resident: a never-before-seen moon orbiting Uranus. The Webb telescope’s observations of Uranus are giving scientists better insight into one of the more mysterious planets in our solar system.

In the space close to the icy planet, outside its ephemeral rings, JWST snapped a tiny object that no one had ever seen before, not even in data from the Voyager 2 probe that flew past Uranus at a close distance in 1986.
