The Supreme Court ruled against Texas and landowners who challenged a plan to store thousands of metric tons of nuclear waste at a facility in the state.

The U.S. Supreme Court threw out on Wednesday a legal challenge by the state of Texas and oil industry interests to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's licensing of certain nuclear waste storage facilities.

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 against challenges from Texas legislators and landowners to a temporary nuclear waste facility near the New Mexico border.
