Dec 6, 2014 · From a sheer psychological standpoint, it’s interesting to hear Adnan’s reverence for Cristina Gutierrez, even a full 10+ years after her passing. He still calls her “Ms. Gutierrez” and even though he seems to understand that her defense ultimately lacked the narrative that human brains (and jurors) seek , he still seems to almost love her.

Cristina’s disbarment had nothing to do with defending clients. She was accused of mixing client money with personal funds. Client funds are supposed to be kept in a separate account. This all came about in 2001 — more than a year after Cristina’s involvement with Adnan.
