The second annual California Adopt-a-Pet Day events are celebrated across the state on Saturday, June 7, allowing families to bring home shelter pets for free.⁠ ⁠ The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is teaming up with local cities and rescue groups to find permanent homes for shelter animals by waiving fees.⁠ ⁠ As over 60,000 animals enter LA city and county shelters each year, if more families get their pets from shelters, it would lead to thousands of animals
