In April of 2023, the District of Columbia Fire and EMS Department Underwater Search and Rescue Team (USART) was formed to support the Metropolitan Police Department Harbor Patrol Unit (MPD Harbor) with conducting joint dive-rescue operations for viable victims. DCFD has a total of 15 Public Safety Divers that are distributed within our Special Operations Divisions on each of the four platoons.
