Happy National Snake Day! While these beauties are not exactly snakes, these Rote Island Snake-necked Turtles (Chelodina mccordi) definitely resemble their fellow reptiles. This species is a type of side-necked turtle, meaning it doesn’t retract its head and neck straight back into its shell. Instead, they lay them along the front of their body.
