Tom Weir was born in Springburn, Glasgow, on 29 December 1914. He was an accomplished mountaineer climbing peaks in Nepal and Norway. At home, he became a much-loved writer and broadcaster who shared his enthusiasm for Scotland’s great outdoors. He is perhaps best-known for his series Weir’s Way 🏔️ We recently acquired one of Tom’s trademark bobble hats. This was made by Tom’s wife Rhona Weir, who knitted all of his bunnets 🧶 He and Rhona lived most their lives nearby the banks of Loch Lomond.

Bert Jansch was born in the Springburn district of Glasgow, on 3 November 1943, the descendant of a family originally from Hamburg, Germany, who settled in Scotland during the Victorian era. Jansch’s most notable contribution was his highly innovative and aggressive fingerpicking style, which was a hallmark of the 1960s British folk revival. He is celebrated as one of the most influential acoustic guitarists of the 20th century, known for his technical skill and distinctive fingerstyle technique
