On May 23, 1993 the inaugural WCW Slamboree, titled Slamboree 1993: A Legends' Reunion, took place at The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia. At the event, Lou Thesz, Mr. Wrestling II, Verne Gagne, and Eddie Graham were inducted into the WCW Hall of Fame. On May 22, 1994 WCW Slamboree: A Legends Reunion took place at the Philadelphia Civic Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was the second Slamboree produced by World Championship Wresrling. In the main event, Sting defeated Big Van Vader (with Harley Race) for the vacant WCW International World Heavyweight Championship. Vader was originally scheduled to wrestle Rick Rude, but Rude had to be replaced by Sting as Rude had suffered a career-ending back injury in Japan, in a match against Sting.
