These are some common pronunciation mistakes I’ve corrected this week. All of these words — significant, critical, simplicity, restricted, predicted — are excellent for practising the short /ɪ/ vowel (the sit sound) because the sound happens more than once in the words. ❌ The common mistake: making it too tense, too high, and turning it into /iː/ (like in seat). ✅ The correct way: relax your jaw slightly, keep your tongue high but not too high, and let the sound be short and light.
