I have today announced I will not be standing at the next General Election I look forward to exploring new ways to communicate with people of all ages and from all backgrounds

I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who has been in touch following my incident with the conspiracy theorist on the tube the other day. I'm doing fine and am overwhelmed by all your kind comments. I also want to say an enormous thank you to the staff on the London Underground, the Police and members of the public who supported me throughout this cowardly assault. In a democracy, we must cherish respectful debate and never resort to violence or intimidation.
